LEARNING OUTCOMES

• Paediatricians will learn to distinguish simple viral colds from bronchiolitis, acute viral wheeze, and pneumonia using key clinical indicators such as respiratory rate, work of breathing, and oxygen saturation.
• They will recognize red‑flag signs—including high fever, desaturation, apnoea, poor feeding, and unilateral chest findings—that require urgent evaluation or referral.
• They will understand evidence‑based management of acute, chronic, and recurrent cough, including when investigations or antibiotics are warranted and when they are not.
• They will be able to differentiate asthma from other causes of cough such as airway hyperresponsiveness, post‑infective cough, reflux, habit cough, and persistent bacterial bronchitis.
• They will strengthen diagnostic suspicion for specific infections like pertussis, parapertussis, mycoplasma, and tuberculosis based on characteristic symptom patterns and appropriate testing.
